Description

Angelo moved in low and had the rifle ready. Moving into position he crouched behind a wall and aimed at the man of steel. In the chamber was one bullet. A bullet of cryptonite. He waited for an opening as Superman battled one of Luthor's robots. When he had an opening, he took the shot, but at the last moment, Wonder Woman intervened and deflected the bullet into a wall.

Angelo, shocked, threw away the rifle and ran. Luckily, at the time, another robot engaged with Wonder Woman and Angelo escaped. Eventually a retreat was called and Luthor and some of his henchmen escaped to a waiting jet helicopter. When Angelo got there, Luthor blocked his way.

“Sorry Angelo. This ride is only for those who do their job.” He raised a gun and shot Angelo in the stomach. The bullet passed through, missing vital organs and lodged in his spine. He could no longer walk. During cleanup, he was found by the cops and taken to a hospital. Given his background, he was not given the best of care, but he lived.

After a year, a woman came to him promising him a new life and a new body. And most importantly a chance of revenge. Angelo didn't hesitate. He signed his life over to Dr. Bryce's care. When she explained how this was all to happen he became reluctant and rather scared. Eventually he saw no better choice and went with the doctor's plans.

One day, he was on a operating slab and then three weeks later he awoke in the cyborg body he now had. His brain was no longer flesh. He had a full positronic brain that his original brain had been mapped onto. The machine used banks of computers to hold his mind as it was meticulously mapped and fed onto the positronic matrix, including all his former emotions.

When he finally awoke he stood up as Arc Angel. He was now smarter and stronger than he could have ever imagined. Though he no longer looked human, he did not care. Parts of him were still human, but most of him was cybernetic limbs and parts now. His drive now was for revenge and power. Money was not a concern, nor was a lust for women. Dominance and superiority are what brought him pleasure and the ever driving force to have his revenge on Lex Luthor.

For now, he acted as Dr. Cyber's henchman until her transfer was complete. After that, she had a plan she said she would reveal that was to include the downfall of Lex Luthor and all the members of the fledgling Justice League.

He was on patrol in the building while Cyber and the Joker were beginning the transfer and eventual demise of Wonder Woman. During the watch he detected some stray RF signals that seemed to be emanating from the utility corridors. They were short and intermittent. He finally detected one more on level 1. Level 1 was separate from Cyber's Positron Lab, but when things were this close, he did not want any chances of delay or failure.

He came to an upper entrance to the utility floor and as soon as the door opened he saw Batman's old sidekick, Robin. He still looked young. He had not seen Batman or Robin since Luthor had had a couple of encounters with them several years ago. Then he remembered rumors of the first Robin leaving and becoming Nightwing. Computations that ran through his positronic brain calculated this in nanoseconds, meanwhile joy bubbled up that he could be the one to destroy Batman's sidekick while the fool was here trying to save Batman. He laughed and raised his staff and told the boy he knew who he was, but his own ego betrayed him and his systems were blinded by a loud concussion and bright lights. Flash grenades.

He saw Robin leap over the railing and he quickly followed only to drop into a massive cloud of smoke. His motion and heat sensors scanned the area, but the smoke was interfering. More flashes and smoke overloaded his sensors while he was scanning, so he had to take a full thirty seconds to re-boot those sensors while he looked for the annoying bird with his normal ocular scanner.

After two minutes of looking he could not find him, so he notified Stealth.

“Stealth, acknowledge.”

A soft gender neutral voice replied in semi monotone in Angelo's head. Though it might be mistaken as a woman's. “Stealth here.”

“Robin is in the main building. I sighted him on Level 1, but was not able to apprehend. This level is separate, but I recommend Ripper to keep a lookout in his section and I will secure this level.”

“Acknowledged, Arc Angel. How did he elude you?”

“Listen you freak, it doesn't matter, just watch out for him!” Some parts of his mind were still very much Angelo.

“All knowledge is pertinent and I am the commander. How did he elude you?”

Arc Angel let out an electronic sigh and said, “He has flash and smoke grenades that interfere with our sensors. Infrared and UV were masked and he's quick and limber. Upgrades should prevent future malfunctions.”

“Acknowledged. That information will be helpful should we see him. Do not question me again and follow orders. Stealth out.”

“BITCH!!” Angelo said out loud. “I'm still taking orders and now it's from some mechanical wench that's not even alive. This better work now Cyber or I'll find out how to program your commands right out of my system.

Naturally, when Angel's transfer was done, Dr. Cyber had put certain safe guards and protocols into his programming to ensure her own safety. He was fine with that at the time. She was compassionate towards him and so far she had done everything she promised. But the human side of him was always paranoid and suspicious and he feared that if she did not need him, she would turn him off. He had been researching ways to re-boot his entire system, but as yet did not have a surefire way of accomplishing that feat. He stowed his emotions and insecurities away and moved out to look for the annoying tweety bird.
