It was morning in Messinia and a week after Winslet and Brigit had begun their journeys. Ertha had returned to Messinia to keep an eye on Jael and Roland. Emagean had returned to his homeland and tower to attend to matters of his own kind, but would return soon to help Ertha.

People were moving about their daily routines already as Solanaia peaked through a clouded and hazy sky. Messinia was the capital of Messinar and was once the jewel of the country. Three centuries of corrupt leaders had let the city fall into disrepair and given in to the rise of extensive slums and thugs ruling the docks. In the last sixty years things had changed. The grandfather of the current Prime Minister had begun the change of ruler ship of Messinar in a bloody revolution. He had the majority of citizens on his side and in a matter of only days had taken over the city. The changing of the territory took another ten years and another five for outsiders to recognize the legitimacy of the new government. By then, Joseph Dolen the First had expanded the borders of his country to the state they are now, minus Exador.

Some ten years after this expansion, Joseph's half brother defected from Messinar establishing the territory of Exador as a sovereign country. The elves of Talana sided with Exador, looking at the sudden expansion of Messinar as a possible threat. Over time things settled in to what they are now. A trade deal between all the eastern countries and an uneasy truce between Exador and Messinar.

Tabor Jael's arrival on these shores and alliance solely with Messinar has the leaders of the elves and the Lords of Exador very uneasy. King Aequmm of Exador has sent a messenger to Messinia to invite Tabor Jael or a liaison to Exador to establish a dialog and possible trade negotiations with the large country. The messenger is not a spy per se but a trained observer. The extended hand is a true gesture, but King Aequmm is just as eager to get any information on the changing situation in Messinar.

Since the Parliament had been established, a face lift has come over Messinia improving the city and livelihood of its citizens. Additionally this created a large middle class and made some merchants the equivalent of lords. At the present time the monopoly created by three merchant leaders has reached it's peak as the people wish to break the chain and open up the markets. This is where Kavalla, as Roland Sabo, has played into the plans of Arch Devil Asmodeus and his worldly servant Tabor Jael, as an accessory to aid in the rise of a world religion dedicated to Asmodeus the Just. In reality it will be Hell on Erath.

Timoran Kavalla, the body, was no more and Roland Sabo, the soul, has moved on. With the help of Asmodeus, Kavalla's soul now inhabits the body of Roland Sabo making the perfect cover for one who has clandestine acts to perform. As Roland, a well respected merchant marine, he has the love of the people and as Kavalla he has the knowledge and talents to serve Tabor Jael and Asmodeus.

After the welcome dinner, Kavalla gave a positive report to the strange and huge man/being, that had given him the ring to detect the Elemental Emissaries. The stranger told Kavalla that those emissaries with Jael, were on their side and acted on orders as much from Asmodeus as from Jael. But Jael did not know their connection to Asmodeus. This needed to be kept a secret so Jael could be watched on all sides. Kavalla said the secret was safe with him, but filed this information away for possible future use. If Jael knew about this, he would look upon them as spies and most likely dismiss or even try to eliminate them. Maybe not an ace, but a high card that could be played if need be.
